National facility at Darjeeling : Introduction

The center at Bose Institute is a multi-disciplinary research facility utilizing the high altitude environment for basic, applied and societal sciences. Several interested scientists from Bose Institute and partner institutions proposed a detailed project, to the Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, for the formation of a National Research Facility under the administrative control of the nodal institution, Bose Institute. This project was subsequently approved by DST, Govt. of India. This facility is now funded by DST, Govt. of India under its IRHPA (Intensification of Research in High Priority Areas) scheme.
