ADMISSION TO INTEGRATED M.Sc. – Ph.D. PROGRAMME

An Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. Programme (duration approximately 6 years) is operated at Bose Institute, Kolkata in 

collaboration with the Calcutta University on Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. On successful completion 

of 2-years M.Sc. course students may be directly admitted to the Ph.D. programme under the supervision of Faculty 

members of Bose Institute based on eligibility criteria as decided by the Board of Studies for the Programme. Others 

will receive M.Sc. degree in Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. Both M.Sc. and Ph.D. degree will be awarded 

jointly by Bose Institute and the Calcutta University. During M.Sc. course all students will be offered a fellowship at par 

with other Government organizations  operating such courses, subject to the condition that at the event of any 

candidate fails to secure 60% marks at a particular semester, his/her fellowship will be stopped till he/she 

secures 60% or above marks in next semester.  

Applications are invited for the academic session 2009-2010 from motivated Honours Graduate students from any branch

of science with outstanding academic record. Minimum Qualification required for applying is 60% marks in B.Sc. Honours 

subject. The candidates may apply online in the prescribed format down loaded from Bose Institute web site followed by

 submission of hard copy application within 24th July, 2009 to The Registrar, Bose Institute, Centenary Building, P-1/12, 

C.I.T. Scheme VII M, Kolkata 700 054. The candidates whose results still remained awaited may submit B.Sc. final result 

by 29th July, 2009.

The list of short listed  candidates for written test will be announced on the Bose Institute website  on 30 th July, 2009.  

Written test will be held on 6th August, 2009. The venue for the written test will be announced along with the list. 

A merit list of candidates will be announced at the website on 14th August, 2009 and they will be called for interview 

and counseling on 19th and 20th August, 2009 in the Centenary Campus of Bose Institute, P1/12 C.I.T.Scheme VII M, 

Kolkata 700054 from 11 am – 4 pm. The final merit list of candidates will be announced on 21th August 2009 at 12 Noon 

on the Institute Notice Board and also on the website. 

The first 9 candidates will be offered admission to the Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. Programme on 24th August, 2009 between

12 noon to 3 pm. If any candidate among the first 9 fails to take admission on the due date and time, the name of the 

next candidate in the merit list will be announced on 25th August 2009 who can take admission on 26th August, 2009 

between 12 noon – 4 pm. All notifications regarding admission to the above  M.Sc.-Ph.D. Programme will be available in 

the Bose Institute web site as well as  Notice Board of the M.Sc.-Ph.D. section (3rd Floor, Annex Building, Centenary 

Campus, Bose Institute, Kankurgachhi, Kolkata 700 054).

The regular classes for the first semester of 2009-2010 session will be started tentatively on 1st September, 2009.
